Week 1

Can we really live without technology? I believe the asnwer to this is no, however I do think we rely too much on technology. One thing I disagree with that the author states is that technolgy is taking over or minds. I do believe this is true but not as drastically as he states it. I think scientists are constantly improving technology for a reason. If they don't want us to become less intelligent, then they can slow down on the improvements.

  1. Cally, this is a good "seed" to begin a blog entry with, but I expect you to think through your ideas in a writing a little bit more. You mention several very interesting ideas. One was the implication that with the more scientists introduce technological advances the less intelligent we become. I'd love to hear more on that idea.

  2. I dont think that we will become less intelligent by increasing technology. It does make things easier which causes less knowledge sometimes but also technology comes out that helps us get better learning experiences so all in all technology can benefit learning.

  3. To answer your beginning question: No. We can not live without technology, the food we eat to the clothes we wear are all manufactured or creating using some modern technology. I agree with your disagreement, in that technology is taking over our minds. Yes, it shapes the way we think and learn but we are free willed human beings. We decided when to take a walk in the park or play a video game.

  4. I also agree that we rely a little too much on technology, but we have gotten to the point that we absolutely need it for almost everything we do in our daily lives. I think that technology does almost as much good as it does bad. It makes our lives easier, and frankly more fun. However, it does make us sit around and do a lot of pointless and mindless activities.
